I enjoy working on still life. I am very interested in painting or drawing something that I see. One of  my   major  focuses are wine glasses and alcohol bottles. I am intrigued at how the light hits the glass. When I paint I use very vibrant colours. I also like focusing on the human face when making portraits. I have been working on my technique for many years. I also do enjoy creating surreal art, art that is either mystical or something unimaginable. I spend many numerous hours when I work on my artwork. I just wished I had more time to work on them. I have  not created an artwork lately since I have been juggling two jobs and attending university  full-time.

I was introduced to art at a very young age. I learned that I had a knack for art in pre-kindegarten class. There was a drawing competition that all my classmates and I were in. I remember I drew a Walt-Disney picture. The winner  was awarded and given tickets to watch Walt-Disnet on Ice. Every year I participated and I won all the time. My  teachers and parents supported me to continue my art. I took a few art courses in Elementary. Sadly, art was not fostered a lot in my High School. However, I was always known as the artsy fartsy student. Whenever a teacher needed a poster they asked me to do it, when a fundraiser needed a banner I did it. I even designed a few school murals. I enjoyed every moment because I was doing something I trully enjoyed.

I then majored in Visual Arts in Dawson College. I actually wanted to be in Fashion Design or Marketing, but my parents wanted me to be in a Pre-University program. I enjoyed Visual Arts very much because I was able to learn and explore different types and forms of art. I worked with clay, painting, scuplting, experimental film, drawing, computer art, and dance. It was in that program where I learned that I wanted to be an Art Therapist.  However, before becoming an Art Therapist I decided I wanted to teach Elementary because I want to share knowledge with  childrenn. I have always wanted to teach since I was a little girl.

I am currently in my third year at Mcgill  University studying in education. My dream is to teach for numerous years and while teaching I will achieve my degree in Art Theraphy. Working with children in education will fulfill my dream of becoming and educator but at the same time learn how children think. Working with children will aid me with my career as an Art Therapist. For those who do not know what they do, Art Therapists work with children, adolesents, and adults who cannot express their feelings and emotions throught verbal language and will create art in order to release their emotions.

 CHARCOAL AND CONTÉ

I have been using charcoal as a medium for five years now. Charcoal is actually burnt twigs. While as conté is composed of compressed powdered graphite or charcoal mixed with a wax or clay base, square in crossBlack Drawing Charcoal Stock Images-section. I like to use this medium because I can play with light, contrast, volume and value. I like to smudge when I use charcoal to make different shades.

At first you have to play around with the medium in order to understand how to drawn and create art with it. After exploring you can tackle whatever creation comes to mind.

I usually draw on charcoal paper or water colour paper. Why? It is because these papers because they are not as smooth as our regular everyday paper. The charcoal is able to go in the grains of the paper and the paper holds the charcoal powder much better. If you were to create something on regular print paper, the charcoal or conté will rub off the paper; you image will then be smudged and visibly hard to see.

My preferred subject to draw with conte or charcoal are portraits of people's faces.

I either use a fixative to protect my artworks, or I use hairspray. Hairspray is better if you do not have good ventilation. If you have good ventilation or spray your artwork outside, I would use fixative. The fixative covers the charcoal and protects the artwork from smudgeing. The fixative pretty much seals the charcoal into the paper.

 WATERCOLOUR PENCILS

I have not made many watercolour pencil artworks. WatercoloColor Pencil Stock Photour pencils are hard to pefect. Watercolour pencils look similar to regular pencil crayons, the difference is that the lead crayons used in the pencil is dry watercolour paint. This is to say that you can use a brush and water over the watercolour pencils on paper to blend the colours together. If I were to use a paper 24" x 30", it would literally take 10 hours or more to fill up the page. Why? It is because when you use water colour pencils, you have to press hard in order to have vibrant colours. The less hard the less vibrant and the colours are very light. it takes many layering in order to create an image using this medium.

 ACRYLIC PAINT

I have been painting for the past ten years. I started painting with oil paint, then I discovered watercolour paint. I worked with these two mediums because it was what I was first iPaint Palette On White Background Stock Photontroduced to. Oil paint is very messy and takes a lot of time to dry. Watercolour is very fun and easy to mix, but what I learned to work very well with is acrylic paint. Some may call it cheap paint, but it is paint that I like, its not too pricey, it dries quick, easy to miz with, and I understand how to use it.

I usually like painting still life of alcohol bottles and glasses. it is something of the shapes, colours, and light that makes me paint these items over and over.

People that are familiar with my artwork know that I use vibrant colours. I usually like to paint on a black background because in paintings, the colours stand out more. My paintings usually have a happy feeling, because I am happy when I paint.

Artists that have inspired me are: Degas, Monet, Bacon, Da Vinci, Angelo, or and so many more.

I like to paint on large canvases that are already mounted. However, to paint on large canvases is difficult to do if there is not enough space. That is why I do much more painting done in the summer because I can paint outside in my backyard or driveway.

 PENCIL DRAWINGS

I started sketching faces using pencils. I am not talking about regular HB pencils. I use different types of lead ranging from F-to B. I usualy use 2B, 3B, 5B and 6B. Every pencil has a different use. I learned how to shade properly and found my own style of shading using pencils. My favourite brand of pencils are Derwent. It is the only pencils I use when I draw.

I practiced many years with pencil before I tackled paint, watercolour pencils and even charcoal.

Once I mastered shading and understanding how to draw what I see, I then proceeded to experiment with other mediums.
